This is how I'm doing things: I start out jogging right away. I've learned that, for some reason, this feels better than walking, then speed walking, then jogging, then running. I jog at a 4.5 speed until I hit .50 miles. Does that mean I'm running at 4.5 miles an hour? I haven't run for an hour so I'm not sure. When I get to that halfway mark, I turn up the heat. 5.0 - 5.5 - and 6.0 for the last tenth of a mile.
I'm still weight-lifting. I'm up to 60 pounds! When I first started, I could do 30 pretty easy. I was shaking today but I did it.
I didn't feel like going at all today. I was curled up on the couch, bundled in sweatpants and a robe (it's getting chilly in Sacramento), and lost in Christopher Paloni's new book, Brisingr. Jill, however, had the motivation. And when I did get my butt in the workout room, I was thinking the whole time of what I could achieve so I can post it on here!
This blog was a great idea.
Oh, and I want to know how the marathon training is going! What has it been like? What have you two been doing? I went to the website and saw the thing for the Mud Run, too! I clicked on it and this hilarious song started playing. I envisioned all of us meeting up for this event and thought, 'Hey, why not?!' Or at least something like this. Maybe we could give it some thought: Get together, have some laughs, do a 20 mile run for a good cause? What do you think?

Way to go, Kaitlin. You're putting us all to shame!! I'm going to have to join a gym right away. Then you'll have to move back home so I have someone to race on the treadmill!! I need motivation!
Yes, motivation is key! Jennie has been pushing quite a bit to keep me going. But we completed 15 miles last week which included getting up before the sun did on Saturday morning so we could meet a group of idiots much like ourselves downtown to walk six miles.
Kaitlyn, I'm very impressed with your discipline and willpower to stick with it even when a good book is whispering your name.
Jennie and I are walking....I don't do any running. My pace is basically 3.5 miles per hour which means I walk a mile in about 17 minutes. Jennie could walk faster, but has to pace herself to allow me to keep up. Going uphill I probably slow to at least 3.0 miles per hour so that I can gather enough breath to whine. Jennie shows no mercy.
A group venture would be much fun, but I really wasn't planning on involving mud in my fitness routine. :-)
Yes, motivation is the key as I sit here munching on candy corn. (I love Halloween)
Honey Gail, I wish my girl child would push me, but heck, she likes to eat candy corn, too!! I am proud of y'all for sticking to it. And Kaitlin, I just have to say that you definitely are an inspiration to the rest of us. Keep it going! Too bad you don't live close enough to get my lard a** moving.
Keep it up girls. Y'all are going grrrrrreat!
Mom! I DO sometimes get on here and read these little comments and I'm not happy about the one you made about me eating candy corn! I only eat it because SOMEONE goes to the store and buys it even though I asked this person not to, thank you very much! Between Dale with his candy drawer in the office and Mom with her candy corn I have successfully gained 5 pounds. Dale locks his drawer when he goes home but unfortunately I know where the key is and the temptation is too great. So, I'm back and ready to shed some pounds. Hopefully I'll lose 10 but we'll see.
Good thing Dale doesn't read these little comments....
