Anybody have "losing weight" at the top of their 2009 resolution list?

It's been at the top of my resolution list for about 10 years now! Putting it there doesn't seem to help me.

Are those pills working?

Karen, how is the 12-week plan shaping up? Any details? I managed to not gain over the holidays, but there were certainly no losses.

Donna, how are those pills working? Any weight loss? Any strange reactions? Perhaps we should ask Tony or Erin about your behavior. You know, Ken and the girls always seem to have a different perspective than I do about my behavior. Most days I think it's just fine, yet they tell a different story....

I'm too busy having a Coke and Snickers to be typing long responses about 12-week plans!
What's your plan?

Yes, the pills are working. I have lost 7 pounds so far. I don't notice any change in behavior. But, I was able to take down all of my Christmas decorations in 29 minutes. And, I seem to be vacuuming alot.
But, that's a good thing.

I don't have a plan as attested by the big bowl of popcorn and two glasses of wine I just consumed.

Ken offered to be my fitness coach. I would describe his plan, but there are nieces and nephews reading.

Jennie and I decided to get back on our walking schedule this past weekend. We needed to walk 10 miles, and we decided that Two Rivers Park would be a good place. We spent considerable time getting ready (finding fitness clothes, fitness shoes, fanny packs.... dusting them off..... wrapping toes so they would not argue during the long walk). The temperature was in the low 50s...the sun was shining... the wind was blowing.... the wind was REALLY blowing down by the river. We walked a 1/2 mile. We took a unanimous vote to head back to the car. We walked briskly back to the car....briskly so that hypothermia would not set in. We began devising a survival plan in case we were not able to wrap our frozen fingers around the door handle once we reached the car. We walked faster. We did get the doors opened, and once we were safely blocked from the savage wind, we enjoyed our snacks packed for the 10-mile venture. Then we cruised through a couple of new housing developments in the area (with the heater on high), so that we wouldn't get back home too soon and appear to be whipped.

I don't know why I'm not losing weight...

I walked 2 miles on the treadmill. Indoors. No wind. Lots of sweat!

Today, I used a cardio machine for 45 minutes and burned 1053 calories while going 9.8 miles!

Then Austin and I had lasagna for lunch and I tried the Vanilla Coke that he brought home from Grandma's house.

I don't know why she gave him a VANILLA coke. He takes after her. Doesn't like anything but the original.... of anything!

I drank the whole thing!

WHOA! Go, Mom!

Where did THAT come from??? That's insane. Did you push yourself that hard or was it a surprise to look down and see the calorie count/distance?

1,000+ calories is huge. The Vanilla Coke was your reward! I think the main point of working out is getting your heart pumping and your muscles working. Calories come and go. I don't see what the big deal is...unless you're taking in an impressive amount of them. Right? Maybe I have my education wrong.

Oh, man, I wish I could have gone with you. That would have been so much fun. So exciting!
